ipsy september glam bag review

Here is a belated review of my September glam bag from Ipsy! Every month, it is so much fun to see the glam bag theme and all of the hand-picked beauty goodies. I’m expecting my October bag in a little over a week and I will definitely share the surprises I get!

elizabeth mott mascata

Elizabeth Mott – It’s So Big Volumizing Mascara – $19.99

Definitely adds volume to your lashes! There are so many great mascaras out there though, so it is hard to compare them. This one sort of reminds me of Benefit Cosmetics mascara.

cailyn lip balm

Cailyn – Tinted Lip Balm in Big Apple – $19

The color is vibrant, long-lasting and applies smoothly. I really love the color! It is perfect for all seasons and I love that it is a full-size item, not sample size!

skyn icelands

Skyn Iceland – Hydro Cool Firming Eye Gels – $30 for 8 pairs

These gels feel awesome on your skin! However, I think I need to try them out a few more times to get a better sense of how effective they are. Ipsy did provide 2 pairs of the gels in my bag, which is great, but I would like to buy the 8 pair pack so I can try them out a couple of days in a row.

nyx eye shadow

Nyx – Single Eye Shadow – $4.50

Nothing too special or unique about this eye shadow, however the color is daring! I would not buy this color on my own, so it is a fun glam bag treat.

starlooks eye pencil

Starlooks – Eye Pencil – $12.00

I am more of a liquid eye liner girl, but this eye pencil draws on easily and lasts all day.

a tuesday taste: appetizers for dinner

One of my favorite easy suppers to make comprises of a few filling, delicious appetizers in place of one typical meal. Here are some tasty ideas:

cheese tray

A small cheese tray with crackers and olives – I love all types of cheeses and putting together a cheese plate is a great way to try new kinds. It is also filling and puts me in the “small bite” mood. Williams-Sonoma has a great article here with advice on assembling a great cheese tray.

shrimp cocktail

Shrimp is delicious and a low calorie food. Shrimp cocktail is a good source of protein and an easy appetizer to make. I typically buy it fresh and cooked, but if you need tips on how to prepare uncooked shrimp, check out this Martha Stewart article here.

TJs meatballs

Trader Joe’s has yummy appetizers to choose from! A bag of TJ’s Mini Masala Meatballs is one of my favorite. Buy some sauce to go with them and you’re good to go!

parm pups

Pigs in a blanket are always a great option! You can make them yourself, or pick up another Trader Joe’s winner: Parmesan Pastry Pups. The parmesan flavor is amazing!

Any favorite appetizers you’d like to share? Let me know in the comments below!

amazing sale at kate spade outlet this weekend!

If you love Kate Spade, then you have to go check out one of their outlet stores this weekend. Everything in the store is 50%, but some items have an additional 20% off of that! When you walk in, you are given a coupon for 15% off your entire purchase that can be used on top of the other discounts.

Let’s just say I bought a gorgeous black leather bag for ~$110, originally priced at $325. Yesterday was a good day!!

tj maxx online shopping is live!

Big retail news – TJ Maxx now has online shopping! Check out the site here!

It is fun to dig through the racks at TJ Maxx and see the products yourself – it seems like a risky move to change their business model and customer experience.

Do you think their online shopping feature will replace visits to your local TJ Maxx? What do you think of the company’s online shopping offering to its customers?

On a side note, I recommend checking them out on Pinterest! They pin so many cute things!

a tuesday taste…a little late!

Pumpkin season is here!! For those of you who love a good muffin and embracing pumpkin flavor right now, I wanted to share a great recipe for Pumpkin Chocolate Chip Muffins.

pumpkin choco chip muff

The link to the full recipe can be found here!

But here’s a summary —

1 c. sugar
1 T. pumpkin pie spice
1 tsp. baking soda
1/4 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp. salt
2 lg. eggs
1 c. plain pumpkin
1/2 c. butter, melted
